An accessible draw, according to fans, was Colo Colo’s turn for the round of 16 of the Copa Libertadores, as they will face the Colombian team Junior de Barranquilla.
The draw for the continental tournament also provided for a fight between Argentine teams, Talleres against River Plate, and another between the Brazilians Botafogo and Palmeiras.
Six of the eight games in the top sixteen phase have already been decided.
Fluminense, current champion of the Libertadores, will face the second in Group C, which must be defined between The Strongest, Huachipato or Gremio, since the Chilean team has a pending match with the Brazilian and the latter still has to play two.
The draw, which took place in the Paraguayan city of Luque, determined that Talleres, ranked second in Group B, will meet River Plate, four-time champion of the tournament, in 2018, 2015, 1996 and 1986, and the team with the best performance in the last group stage, with 16 points out of a possible 18.
Botafogo will face Palmeiras, winner of the Copa Libertadores in 1999, 2020 and 2021.
San Lorenzo, which won the cup in 2014, will play against Atlético Mineiro, champion a year earlier, in 2013.
The other series will put Nacional face to face with Sao Paulo. The Uruguayan club thus completes 51 participations in this competition, with three cups in its record: 1971, 1980 and 1988.
Its next rival, Sao Paulo, also has three titles: 2005, 1992 and 1993.
Another historical member of the Libertadores, Peñarol from Uruguay, will have to wait for the definition of their rival, who will be the first in Group C (The Strongest, Gremio or Huachipato).
Peñarol, champion of the 1961, 1966, 1982 and 198 editions, will face the first in group C, which has three games pending.
The round of 16, with round-trip matches, will be played between August 14 and 21.
The single final of the Libertadores will be played in the city of Buenos Aires on Saturday, November 30.
