Today, Thursday, the president of SYRIZA-PS Stefanos Kasselakis was in Vouliarates, Albania, where he had the opportunity to talk in a cordial atmosphere with the local authorities, the teachers and the students of the Greek minority school.
In the meeting with the school’s teachers and the director of primary and secondary education in the area, Zisos Loutsio, the main subject of discussion was the difficulties in the operation of minority schools, the need for support from the Greek state, but also the flight of young people from the villages of the area.
“While we teach Greek geography, we don’t have a geography map”, was the characteristic phrase of Mr. Loutsiou, who informed at the same time that the teaching of ancient Greek has now been introduced in the minority school, while he emphasized that Greek minority education should not be cut off .
“Keep the heart of Hellenism strong”
“A key issue for us, because I am also a child of the community and I understand the importance of Hellenism everywhere in the world, is to support the education of the Greek ethnic minority, so that it can be maintained at the highest possible level and that you too have a response from the Greek state in terms of bilateral relations”, emphasized the president of SYRIZA-PS.
He pointed out that the official opposition supports the minority, while he particularly congratulated the teachers for the work they are doing, saying characteristically, “you keep the heart of Hellenism strong”.
Stefanos Kasselakis talked for a while with the students of the school, asking them about their dreams and their professional orientation, while he invited them to visit him in Athens.
Afterwards, the president of SYRIZA-PS was informed in a local church about the search, exhumation and identification procedures for the Greek fallen during the Greco-Italian war.
On the occasion of the presentation of recovered bones of fallen soldiers of the 1940s, Stefanos Kasselakis emphasized the need for peace, also referring to the dramatic developments in the Gaza Strip.
“In addition to how proud I am of our country, we must all remember the need for peace in our region and peace in Palestine,” he said.
