António Guterres, Secretary General of the United Nations, called today (Monday), on his official Twitter account, for an urgent and profound change to be made in the way we live on the planet, given the current climate instability.
At a time when the main climate phenomena are being debated, at COP 25, the United Nations Conference on climate change, in Madrid, in which he participates as secretary general of that organization, Guterres made a point of remembering that life on the planet is threatened .
“To address the climate emergency, we need rapid and profound change in the way we do business, how we generate energy, how we build cities, how we move and how we feed the world. If we do not urgently change our way of life, we jeopardize life itself.”wrote António Guterres.
The Conference of Nations on climate change takes place from the 2nd to the 13th of this month, in the capital of Spain, Madrid, with representatives from 200 countries participating.
The Portuguese politician, engineer and diplomat has held the position of Secretary General of the United Nations since 2017, having previously served as Prime Minister of Portugal.
