News from Angola – Nine games played in series D of the Portuguese Championship and Yuri André has already scored three goals. The striker, born in Luanda, has been asserting himself in European football and taking on a leading role in Lusitano de Évora, which is in the top places in the competition.
The UNESCO world heritage city recently welcomed the 23-year-old, 180 cm player who Noticias de Angola went to meet.
I feel like a more mature player .
How did this possibility of playing for Lusitano de Évora come about?
The possibility that made me come to play for Lusitano was because I already had contact with coach João Nivea, as I played against him previously when he was at Juventude de Évora. He invited me, introduced me to the project, I found it interesting and I accepted. Thank God we are having a good season, with a good start to the championship.
At Louletano you scored some goals and at Lusitano de Évora you already have 3 goals in 9 games. Do you feel good playing striker?
I feel good playing in position nine. I’ve always liked playing as a striker and I’ve had great stability with the system that the manager is implementing in the team. Whenever I can I score goals and help the team. I was very well received and everyone helped me with integration. I would like to reach football, at the highest level I can, if God wants it.
Since you arrived in Portugal from AFA, how has your evolution been?
Since arriving in Portugal, I have evolved a lot and I feel more and more like a mature player. I think I’m increasingly prepared to play professional football in Europe and this has helped me a lot. Every club I’ve been to has taught me something positive.
