Ayman Barquq was attacked in a restaurant in Berlin

Ayman Barkouk, a Moroccan player who plays for Hertha Berlin on loan from German club Mainz 05, was attacked last Saturday in a restaurant in Berlin, after which he was transferred to the hospital where he underwent facial surgery.

The German club Mainz announced, through its “X” account, that its player Ayman Barquq was subjected to the aforementioned attack, noting that he had undergone successful surgery and that the police had opened an investigation to determine the circumstances of the case.

For its part, Hertha Berlin shared a post regarding the topic, which stated: “Hertha BSC was shocked to learn, on Sunday, that Ayman Barquq was physically assaulted on Saturday night and had to be hospitalized due to facial injuries,” adding: “A player underwent… Midfield for successful surgery on Sunday; But it will not be available at the moment.”

According to the German newspaper “Kicker”, Ayman Barquq suffered several facial fractures following the attack carried out by several perpetrators, indicating that the player will initially be absent from the field for at least a month, and the accident may also have permanent consequences on his football future.
