They deliver weapons and equipment for 53 million pesos

Governor Manolo Jiménez Salinas and the mayor, Román Alberto Cepeda González, delivered weapons, ammunition and equipment worth 53 million pesos to the Municipal Police, an act in which they highlighted the importance of coordination and unprecedented investment in this area. .

The delivery consists of 180 9-millimeter caliber pistols and 220 Sig Sauer 5.56 by 45-millimeter rifles.

Included are 300 thousand 9-millimeter cartridges, 200 thousand 5.56 by 45; 300 level 4 vests with third level ballistic panels, in addition to 85 anti-riot equipment, 80 first responder kits, uniforms, protective equipment and monopods.

Mayor Román Alberto Cepeda González reported that during this administration, Torreón has been the city that applies the most investment per capita to public security, with 18.3 of its budget, which this year means 650 million pesos for the purchase of units , equipment, intelligence and counterintelligence systems, in addition to the training and continuous training of the elements.

He highlighted that in 2022 and 2023 260 million were applied, which is important “because the difference between how it was received and how the city is doing has to do with an order of indicators, Torreón now has a privileged position, also thanks to the strategy of the state government,” he indicated.

The mayor indicated that without security many things are lost, which is why it will continue to be the main axis of his government and applying resources as a priority.

LABOR MUNICIPAL

For his part, Governor Jiménez Salinas highlighted the importance of the work that the municipality is carrying out on the issue of security, pointing out that it is essential because the municipal authority is the weakest link.

“If a mayor lets it go, opens the door to crime or allies with it, that’s where they get in,” even if all the corporations are deployed and there is all the support of the Army, the Navy and the National Guard. .

He highlighted that Torreón is one of the cities that invests the most in the field, which has marked the difference with other municipalities in the country, and pointed out that there are no municipalities in this country that are delivering this amount of weapons to their police today.

“It is something worth highlighting in this municipality, where although some years ago we lived through very complicated times, today we have these indicators thanks to the work of the state, the federal forces, but importantly and decisively, because of the work of the municipal president,” said the governor of Coahuila.

He considered that, in addition to applying resources, political will is also necessary to go “all in” against crime.

FIRST 100 DAYS

The governor said that more than 700 million pesos have been invested in security during the first hundred days of his administration, which has been reflected in favor of a greater arrival of investments to the state.

In this regard, he pointed out that the companies that have chosen to invest in the last three months represent more than 40 billion pesos, with thousands of jobs generated, thanks precisely to one of the determining factors, which is security.
