Bad Bunny lost popularity on Spotify after his controversial attitude with a fan

Until 2022, the singer’s songs had remained the most listened to on Spotify.

The controversy over the behavior of the Puerto Rican singer Bad Bunny, who this week threw a fan’s cell phone into the sea, does not stop on social networks and has caused a drop in the popularity of some of his songs on Spotify.

Although the artist deleted the message he published on Twitter this Thursday justifying his behavior, several Internet users have spread it again and expressed their discontent with his attitude.

The controversial message said: “Those who come to put a fucking phone in my face will consider it for what it is, a lack of respect and I will treat it the same way.”

According to a video shared on social networks, during a walk through La Romana, in the east of the Dominican Republic, a fan tried to take a selfie with the reggaeton singer, who snatched her phone and threw it into the water.

During 2022, the Puerto Rican established himself as the most listened to artist in the world, but according to the global Top 50 of the Spotify platform, some of his songs are now positioned well below where they closed the year.

Before the scandal, the song “Titi asked me”, from her album “Un Verano sin ti”, was ranked at number 13, while it is currently at number 28.

Their hits “Me Porto Bonito”, with Chencho Corleone, and “Ojitos Lindos”, with Bomba Estéreo, have also dropped in popularity, falling to positions 22 and 39 on the list, respectively.

The singer’s attitude has also been strongly criticized in the Dominican Republic, where some even advised the young fan to initiate action against the musician for aggression.

In 2022, Bad Bunny was the most listened to artist globally on Spotify for the third consecutive year and the one who raised the most money from concerts in one year, with $373 million, according to Billboard Boxscore.

The Puerto Rican announced last month in an interview with Billboard magazine that he will take a break and will not perform on stage in 2023 to prioritize his physical and mental health, enjoy what he has achieved and be able to work on music without pressure.
