Thessaloniki / A requiem for Tempi – Memorial concert for the 57 dead

The concert takes place today at 20:30 at the Municipal Theater of Kalamaria “Admiral Votsis” (M. Alexandrou & An. Thrakis 9). The entrance is free

A concert in memory of the victims of Tempe is organized on Sunday, March 31 by the Municipality of Kalamaria in collaboration with the Orchestra and Choir of New Generation. 40 musicians on stage will present a range of musical sounds, while the aim of the event is to provide emotional support to the families and friends of the victims.

As the Municipality of Kalamaria emphasizes in its announcement, one year and one month have passed since the night when time froze in Tempi. The heavy mourning that the whole country plunged into for our 57 dead fellow human beings, in the deadliest tragedy of modern Greece, is still here and the least honor that can be given to them is their memory and preservation.

In this context, the Vice Mayor of Education, Lifelong Learning and Culture of the Municipality of Kalamaria in collaboration with the Orchestra and Choir of New Generation organizes this great concert in memory of the victims of Tempe. 40 musicians on stage will perform a range of musical sounds, including parts of the “Requiem” by Mozart, Verdi and Faure, compositions by Puccini and others. Also, the concert will premiere the works of H. Ouzounis and I. Cioutis, the composers selected in the open call for new works conducted by the Orchestra, written especially for this event.

The aim of the event, as underlined by the Municipality of Kalamaria, is to provide emotional support to the families and friends of the victims, and music and culture have always been the most symbolic way, since it speaks directly to the heart.
