Carnage in Moscow / The dead reached 143 – Almost 200 injured

Investigators said the attackers used a “flammable liquid” to set fire to the concert hall while people were still inside.

There is no end to the tragedy in the Russian capital as the dead since yesterday’s attack on the Crocus City Hall concert hall, in Krasnogorsk, northwest of Moscow, they now amount to 143.

THE Research Committee of Russia released the new tally, while the Times of London is talking about nearly 200 injured.

“According to preliminary data the cause of death was gunshot wounds and poisoning by combustion products.” The Commission also announced that the perpetrators used a “flammable liquid” with the help of which they set fire to the concert hall while people were still inside. “Ballistic, genetic and fingerprint tests are currently being conducted,” commission investigators said, adding that they had seized “automatic weapons” that were used in the attack.

Both the Commission and the governor of Moscow stated that expect the death toll to rise while searches of the wreckage continue and rescuers remove debris from the scene of the attack.

The investigations will take several days, the governor of the Moscow region said today. “Rescuers are working 24 hours a day at the site. Another 20 bodies were found under the debris. Investigations will continue further, at least for a few days,” governor Andrei Vorobyov wrote on Telegram shortly after the death toll rose to 115.

Russian authorities have moved on in the arrest of 11 peopleincluding 4 suspects believed to be directly involved in yesterday’s massacre, the Kremlin announced earlier today.

The President of the European Council, Charles Michel, condemned the terrorist attack in Moscow and expressed his condolences to the families of the victims.
