After an incident occurred in which a customer in Quang Ninh owed a credit card of 8.5 million VND and the bank demanded 8.83 billion VND after nearly 11 years, many worried users went to check to block the card. ATMs, credit cards… have not been used for a long time.

In recent days, many users who have opened ATM cards, credit cards… but have not used them for a long time have to rush to the bank to check if they are “in debt” or not. When going to the bank, many people get “fired up” when their account “owes” many fees related to ATM cards and credit cards.

Ms. VTP Phuong (Go Vap, Ho Chi Minh City) said that when reading information on social networks about many people who opened ATM cards but have not used them for a long time, they still “owe” bank fees even though they have not used the card for a long time. She immediately went to the bank to check. Ms. Phuong said she opened an ATM card at Exxx bank… but has not used it since 3 years ago. When she went to the bank branch, she was “excited” when she was informed that she still “owed” card maintenance fees and balance change notification fees via text message with a debt of more than 1 million VND.

She was told by the bank staff that if she wanted to close her card, she had to pay this “debt” and pay the card cancellation fee before she could cancel her account and card. Ms. Phuong said she had to pay off these “debts” to block the card and avoid future problems.

Many other customers in recent days have also shared on social networks about “unexpectedly” discovering ATM card fee debts for cards they have opened but have not used for a long time. Many customers said they believe that if they don’t use their cards anymore, they won’t “ow debt” anything. However, the reality is that the bank has informed them that they still owe many fees such as balance change notification fee, account maintenance fee… And these fees are still charged even if the user does not use the AMT card.

Therefore, when users do not want to use it anymore, they should quickly close their account”;

Credit card users need to pay on time, late payment of credit balances can lead to problems. “trouble” for cardholders.
