“The exercise was designed to strengthen cooperation between the Republic of Korea (official name of South Korea), the United States and Japan.

Its operational capabilities in a context in which North Korea’s nuclear and missile threats are increasingly sophisticated.

The concern of South Korea, Japan and the US

Pyongyang launched the aforementioned satellite on Tuesday, an action condemned by Seoul, Tokyo and Washington, which have recalled that it violates UN sanctions, which prohibit Pyongyang from using ballistic missile technology.

Although the type of resolution of the images captured by the new North Korean satellite is unknown.

Pyongyang has said it has taken photos of US bases in Guam and Hawaii, as well as various military installations in South Korea.

Geopolitical reconfiguration

After the failure of denuclearization negotiations with Washington in 2019, Pyongyang approved a weapons modernization plan.

It includes deploying military satellites and has involved carrying out countless missile tests.

In addition to rejecting the restart of dialogue and seeking greater rapprochement with Beijing and Moscow.

Meanwhile, Seoul and Washington have reinforced military cooperation with Tokyo and strengthened their deterrence mechanism by increasingly deploying US strategic assets on the peninsula, such as the USS Carl Vinson aircraft carrier. With EFE
