Vishvas News found in its investigation that the post on social media about Rs 10 being discontinued from March 29 is just a rumour. RBI has not issued any such notification. Even before this, a rumor of Rs 100 notes being banned was spread, which was investigated by Vishvas News.

instagram user ramapir_ka_divana01 (archive link) posted a photo on March 7, 2024. In this, 10 rupee notes are shown paying tribute. It is written along with it,
“10 rupee note will be banned on 29th March, share it with your friends soon”
investigation
To investigate the viral claim we Reserve Bank of India (RBI) website scanned. We did not find any such information in its press release and notification section. If there were any such guidelines, the information would definitely have been given on the RBI website.

of RBI F&Q Section It is given that the bank notes of Rs 1000 and Rs 10000 were discontinued in January 1946. Higher denomination banknotes of Rs 1000, Rs 5000 and Rs 10000 were reintroduced in the year 1954. The ₹1000, ₹5000 and ₹10000 banknotes were demonetized again in January 1978. Bank notes in denominations of Rs 500 and Rs 1000, recently issued under the Mahatma Gandhi series, were withdrawn from circulation with effect from midnight on 08 November 2016. They are no longer legal tender. There is no information about Rs 10 notes being discontinued.
On January 24, 2021, PIB Post (archive link) said that RBI has not made any announcement to discontinue old notes of Rs 5, 10 and 100 after March 2021.
We contacted RBI regarding this. He says, “RBI has not taken any decision to demonetise Rs 10 notes. The claim viral on social media is a rumour. If any such information is received then first check it on the official website of RBI.“
