(PressFire.no): It is in a survey conducted by the Game Developers Conference that we get an insight into how developers around the world work.
In the “State of the Game Industry” report, information is presented on everything from working hours to thoughts on artificial intelligence and cryptocurrencies, and it also paints a picture of what developers are doing today.
Two-thirds say they’re working on a PC game, while just over a third say the game they’re working on is now coming to the Xbox Series or PlayStation 5 consoles.
But perhaps the most interesting thing about these figures is that 8% say they are actively working on games that will be released for the Nintendo Switch successor.
About 3,000 developers responded to the survey, meaning about 250 say their projects will come to Nintendo’s next-generation machine.
The Switch 2, or whatever it will be called now (Super Switch? Switch 64? TurbographSwitch?), is currently one of the worst kept secrets in the gaming industry.
Nintendo showed off the console behind closed doors at Gamescom last year, showing both the “Breath of the Wild” demo with zero load time, 60 FPS and 4K resolution, and the “The Matrix” demo running on Unreal Engine 5.
Nvidia is working inside the console which, like the Switch, will be a hybrid console that can be connected to your TV or carried with you.
32% of developers say that Switch 2 is a platform of particular interest for the future, beaten only by PlayStation 5 (41%) and PC (62%).
