7 detained in Turkey on charges of selling information to Mossad – 2024-03-06 06:24:25

Turkish police have arrested seven people accused of selling information to the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad. The Turkish intelligence agency reported this information on Tuesday (March 5). A report by the British news agency Reuters revealed this.

Among those detained is a private detective. He is a former government employee. They are suspected of collecting information on various Middle Eastern companies and individuals based in Turkey. Turkey’s MIT intelligence agency claimed that they used tracking devices and surveillance for this task.

A video of the raid released by the Interior Ministry showed policemen searching houses in Istanbul and seizing firearms, bags of medicine and electronic devices.

Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yarlikaya wrote on social media X, “We will not accept espionage activities within our country’s borders.” We will arrest them one by one and bring them to justice.

There was no immediate response from Israel.

MIT said the private Turkish spy was trained by the Mossad in the Siberian capital of Belgrade and accepted payment in cryptocurrency, which was not disclosed in its filings with the government.

Earlier in January, a Turkish court ordered the arrest of 15 people and the extradition of eight others for alleged ties to the Mossad. In February, Turkey detained seven suspects accused of selling information to the Mossad.
