On the Democratic side, the leading candidate is still incumbent President Joe Biden. There has been an opinion that this 81-year-old leader will have difficulty maintaining his sanity if he is re-elected and stays in office for another 4 years. However, Mr. Biden and the White House have dismissed those concerns.

Mr. Biden announced his candidacy with the motto “protecting the freedom of Americans”. On the economic front, under Mr. Biden, US inflation reached its highest in 40 years in 2022 and the cost of necessities is weighing on voters. In particular, Joe Biden’s term witnessed countless economic losses to the United States because of serving military purposes abroad, typically the Russia – Ukraine and Hamas – Israel conflicts.

President Joe Biden’s administration’s immigration policy has also been criticized by both parties as the number of migrants crossing the US-Mexico border increased to a record high during his administration.

Another name from the Democratic Party is Dean Phillips, a congressman from Minnesota, who once announced that he would run in a long-term race against Mr. Biden because he did not think that the President could win another term. Mr. Phillips won no delegates in South Carolina and did not appear on the ballot in Nevada.

Mr. Robert F. Kennedy Jr, 70 years old, is one of the candidates running independently after failing to win the Democratic nomination. Some recent polls show that Mr. Kennedy may do more damage to Mr. Biden than Mr. Trump. Previously, this politician was banned from using Instagram for spreading false information about vaccines and the Covid-19 pandemic.

Cornel West, political activist, philosopher and scholar, announced his candidacy in June. Initially, Mr. West, 70, ran on a promise to end poverty and ensure housing.

Dr. Jill Stein, 73 years old, is a member of the Green Party, also participating in the election. She raised millions of dollars to recount votes after Mr. Trump’s victory in 2016. There is currently not much notable information about this candidate’s campaign.
