Naval police arrested 10 fishermen for catching jatka in Chandpur Meghna River sanctuary area in violation of ban. Of these, six were sentenced to different terms, one was fined five thousand rupees and three others were released on bail by the mobile court.
Friday (March 15) District Administration Assistant Commissioner Md. Asaduzzaman gave this order by raiding the government.
Arrested fishermen are – Md. Arif Sayal (20), Yasin Sayal (28), MB Raju Sayal (35), Hasan Bepari (25), Md. Nazrul Bepari (15), Md. Abu Sufian (20), Md. Jisan (16), Md. Naveen Hossain (18), Mamun Hossain Ali (35) and Md. Shajalal (24). Their homes are in different areas of Tarpur Chandi and Bishnupur Union of Chandpur Sadar Upazila.

An old wooden fishing boat with 40,000 meters of current and three engines was seized from the custody of the accused. The seized evidence is in the custody of the Naval Police.
