This headset issue went viral on social media after two netizens experienced hearing loss. It was discovered through the account @constructivismn.
“It seems that besides diabetes (caused by sweet products such as boba, coffee, and other packaged drinks), the health concern of the young generation (now) in the future is hearing loss, huh?” wrote the account @constructivismn.
The account also said that he imagined someone for a certain time could not be separated from the use of a TWS headset for a long time. Not long after, a male netizen with the account @fariskodel also shared a similar thing that he experienced.
“Yes, in 2020 I had sudden deafness in my left ear. At that time the office was really hectic, WFH made working hours very long. Using a headset +12 hours/day and it lasted for months. Suddenly one morning my left ear felt like something was covering it,” said @fariskodel, on Tuesday (8/13/2024).
For your information, sudden deafness is a sudden and unexplained loss of hearing, either all at once or over several days.
Causes of Wearing a Headset Too Long
1. Risk of Hearing Complications / Hearing Loss
As mentioned, using headphones to listen to music loudly and for long periods of time can make hair cells more sensitive. This can lead to temporary or permanent hearing loss.
This was also felt by netizen @fariskodel, apparently he experienced profound hearing loss where his left ear could not hear sounds in the 90db frequency range.
2. Ear Infection
Ear infections are common due to prolonged use of headsets. This is because the use of these devices can increase the growth of bacteria and also transfer other people’s bacteria to the ear, if used alternately.
3. Dizziness
Increased pressure in the ear canal due to loud noises can also cause dizziness. That’s why you may sometimes feel dizzy after using a headset for a long time.
