5 killed after Israeli attack on Lebanese home

Israel: At least five people were killed Saturday, including four from the same family, and nine were wounded in an Israeli attack on a house in southern Lebanon, the country’s official national news agency reported. Lebanon’s Iran-backed Hezbollah movement and Israel have traded deadly cross-border fire on an almost daily basis since the war began in October between Israel and the Gaza group Hamas, an ally of Hezbollah. “A family of four was killed in an attack on a house in the Khirbet Selam area,” the NNA said, adding that a couple and their two children and another man were killed, adding that the mother was also pregnant. It said the attack demolished the house, injuring at least nine others living nearby. At least 312 people, mainly Hezbollah fighters, and 56 civilians have been killed in Lebanon since the start of the Israel-Hamas war in October, according to an AFP tally.

Fighting is mainly in border areas but fears have grown of wider conflict in Lebanon.
