The first eruption of Mount Ruang occurred on March 3 and ended on March 14, 1871. This eruption occurred on the Ruang volcano in the Maluku Sea. The event resulted in a powerful tsunami measuring 25 meters (82 ft) and flooding many villages on nearby islands. As a result, approximately 400 people died, most of whom were villagers, and their bodies were later seen on the beach.
