4 people, 2 of whom were on duty at the hospital, were detained within the scope of the investigation carried out regarding the incident in Burdur State Hospital Dialysis Unit last month, in which 3 of the patients who fell ill and were taken to the hospital died.
PATIENTS FROM DIALYSIS CAME TO THE HOSPITAL WITH COMPLAINTS
Some of the patients who underwent dialysis during the 08.00-12.00 and 12.00-16.00 sessions on May 25 came to the hospital with complaints such as dizziness, nausea, confusion and inability to get off the transport vehicle. As the condition of some of them got worse, the authorities contacted all the patients who were undergoing dialysis during the day and asked them to come to the hospital. Some were brought to the hospital by ambulance.
33 PATIENTS WERE TREATED
In the first stage, 18 patients whose health conditions got worse were sent to hospitals by ambulances. Authorities requested ambulances from different provinces. By the instructions of the Ministry of Health, all 33 patients who received dialysis treatment during the day were sent to hospitals. 23 of the patients were treated in Antalya, 6 in Afyonkarahisar, 3 in Isparta and 1 in Denizli.
3 PEOPLE LOST THEIR LIVES
One of the patients, Mustafa Demir (70), died on May 28 at Antalya Akdeniz University Hospital, where he was treated, and Saniye Aksöz (88) and Somali Amina Abas Jama (67) died on May 29 at Antalya City Hospital, where they were treated. It was learned that one of the patients was receiving treatment in the normal ward in Antalya and the other in Isparta, and the others were discharged.
4 DETAINED, 2 OF WHICH ARE HOSPITAL STAFF
An investigation has been launched into the incident in the dialysis unit, which was closed by the governor’s decision. An inspector assigned by the Ministry of Health also inspected the hospital. Within the scope of the judicial investigation, secretary MC and electrician İ.S., working at Burdur State Hospital, were arrested. and independent mechanical engineers GAS and YA were detained yesterday morning on charges of ‘causing death by negligence’ and ‘injury by negligence’. The 4 suspects were referred to the courthouse today after their procedures at the police station.
