4 patients in intensive care at a hospital in Gaza have died after running out of oxygen. The incident took place at Nasser Hospital in the southern city of Khan Yunis. Gaza health officials reported on Friday (February 16). The US news agency AP reported this news.

The hospital was surrounded by Israeli forces for almost a week. As a result, hospital staff, patients and others were in dire straits of essential supplies including heat, food and water. In the meantime, the Israeli army has carried out an operation there on Thursday.

Hospital staff said Israeli forces opened fire on the hospital complex hours before it was taken over. Due to this, a patient inside the complex was killed. Six more people were injured.

This attack by the Israeli forces caused chaos among hundreds of people there, regardless of patients, workers. Much needed medical equipment was also destroyed or damaged. Later, 4 patients in intensive care died due to lack of oxygen.

In response to the attack, the military said it believed the hospital contained the remains of Israelis held hostage by the Palestinian resistance group Hamas. They conducted this attack to rescue them.
