The Chief of Air Staff (KSAU) is the highest official within the Indonesian Air Force. This position is occupied by a high-ranking Indonesian Air Force officer (Pati) with the rank of Marshal or four star.
Throughout its history, the position of KSAU has been held by many different names. Some of them are known to come from West Java. Anyone?
KSAU Born in West Java
1. Marshal TNI (Ret.) Yuyu Sutisna
TNI Marshal (Ret.) Yuyu Sutisna is a retired high-ranking officer (pati) of the Indonesian Air Force. It is recorded that he was KSAU for the 2018-2020 period.
Yuyu Sutisna was born in Cicalengka, West Java, 10 June 1962. In his history, he is known to have graduated from the Air Force Academy (AAU) in 1986 and the Indonesian Air Force Pilot School in 1987.
Before reaching the peak of his career as KSAU, Yuyu Sutisna also held a number of other important positions. Such as Pangkoopsau I (2015-2017), Panglima Kohanudnas (2017) to Deputy Chief of Staff of the Air Force (2017-2018).
2. Marshal TNI (Ret.) Agus Supriatna
TNI Marshal (Ret.) Agus Supriatna was born in Bandung, West Java, January 28 1959. He is known to have graduated from the Air Force Academy (AAU) in 1983.
During his career in the military, Agus has enjoyed a number of strategic positions. Among them are Danlanud Sultan Hasanuddin (2010-2011), Kaskoopsau I (2011-2012), Pangkoopsau I (2012-2014), Wairjen TNI (2014) to Kasum TNI (2014-2015).
The peak of Agus Supriatna’s career came when he became Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Air Force (KSAU) for the 2015-2017 period. The final rank is Marshal or the equivalent of four stars.
