Azerbaijan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have signed four documents on energy cooperation.

According to information, these are the “Memorandum of Understanding on Investment Cooperation between the Ministry of Investment of the UAE and the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan on electricity transmission projects”, “Strategic Cooperation Framework for further strengthening the use of renewable and clean energy potential of Azerbaijan and enabling Green Energy Export Operations” Agreement”, “A Calendar of Activities (Roadmap) for the construction of 1 GW solar and wind projects to be installed onshore in Azerbaijan”, is a Strategic Cooperation Agreement between the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) and the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC).
The Memorandum of Understanding envisages the creation of a framework for investment cooperation in the energy sector, especially in electricity transmission projects, development of the network, exchange of technical knowledge and experience. In addition to the 2 GW onshore solar, 2 GW wind, and 6 GW offshore wind energy projects, the Strategic Cooperation document includes rooftop solar energy projects, “green hydrogen,” “green ammonia,” synthetic methane, sustainable aviation fuel production, and “green energy” includes cooperation on new directions such as export, study of investment opportunities. “Calendar of Activities (Roadmap) for the construction of 1 GW solar and wind projects to be installed onshore in Azerbaijan” reflects the implementation measures of 2 solar and 1 wind energy projects for 2024-2027.
