TAIPEI: Taiwan’s Coast Guard Administration (CGA) on Friday expelled four Chinese coast guard vessels that violated restricted waters off the Taiwan-controlled island of Kinmen, central news agency Focus Taiwan reported.
Upon detection of the incursion at 2:46 pm, there was a quick response from Taiwanese patrol vessels, which closely monitored and issued warnings until the Chinese vessels withdrew from the prohibited areas around Kinmen Island.
According to Focus Taiwan, despite the China Coast Guard’s claims that their patrols were conducted within legal limits, the China Coast Guard said the vessels were “legally patrolling the waters of Kinmen,” the statement said .
According to CGA, the Chinese ships were in waters 3 to 3.2 nautical miles south of Kinmen Island, according to Focus Taiwan. Taiwan and China launched a joint rescue operation aimed at locating two missing crew members after a fishing boat capsized near Taiwan’s Kinmen Islands recently on Thursday, Al Jazeera reported. Had to put it.
The boat, which had six people on board, sank about 1.07 nautical miles southwest of Dongding Islet at about 6 a.m. Thursday, Taiwanese authorities reported. According to Al Jazeera, two people have been confirmed dead, while two survivors have been rescued from the scene. The area is sensitive because Kinmen is located just 5 km (three miles) off China’s east coast. (ANI)
