32 matches: López Chau and Belmont achieve registration and another 25 are still in process

Civic Works Party and Now Nation are the latest groups to correct all the observations.

At the end of this edition, there are 32 parties that have an active registration in the Registry of Political Organizations (ROP) of the National Elections Jury (JNE)allowing them to participate in the 2026 general elections.

The last group to obtain its registration is Ahora Nación, whose possible presidential candidate is Alfonso López Chau, rector of the National University of Engineering (UNI). The penultimate party to register was the Civic Works Party, which has as a prominent figure the former mayor of Lima, Ricardo Belmont Cassinelli, who has also been a congressman and advisor to the former president Peter Castillo.

Registration of a political party in the ROP is done after fulfilling various requirements and deadlines. Therefore, it is anticipated that more parties will register in view of the 2026 elections, especially since many are resolving observations and objections.

Currently, there are 25 political parties that must complete their registration process with the ETCThis could result in a total of up to 57 parties on the ballot for the next national elections.
