The new doctor has arrived! The opportunity for L’Éclaireur to question the future of the Time Lord, in the sequel to the successful English series.
In the firmament of science fiction series, a very singular star has been shining for decades: that of Doctor Who. From his first appearance on the black and white televisions of young English people, one evening in November 1963, the enigmatic figure seemed to promise viewers an unforgettable journey. A promise kept, when we realize that 60 years later, the Doctor has still lost none of his splendor.
The trailer for the new season of Doctor who.
After regenerating at the end of the 60 Years trilogy, this new iteration of the hero of Gallifrey played by Ncuti Gatwa was able to experience his first adventure during the Christmas episode broadcast last week. If the latter was full of twists and exciting moments that have made the series successful for over half a century, it was also full of questions. However, we know that the British opera wants to renew itself in more ways than one, as demonstrated by the trailer of the next episodes announced as part of “season 1” of this new version. But what can we expect from this?
1 Who is Ruby’s mother?
Tradition has it that the Doctor met his new “companion” in the first minutes of the Christmas episode. A true representation of spectators, the eponymous hero’s sidekick has always served as an entry point for newcomers. But that doesn’t mean it’s devoid of narrative baggage, as illustrated by Ruby Sunday (Millie Gibson), the young orphan who answers the Time Lord’s call to adventure.
The Ruby Road church is keen to hide the identity of the young woman’s mother. Why did she abandon him in front of a church one Christmas evening almost 20 years ago? Is it really a coincidence that Ruby ended up in the Doctor’s path? One thing is for sure, the mystery shouldn’t remain unsolved for long.
2 The identity of Mrs Alluvione
The old lady who lives next door to Ruby seemed so harmless. Played by the great stage actress Anita Dobson, the latter surprised many fans by breaking the fourth wall at the end of the episode. She seems to know about the existence of the Doctor and especially of his TARDIS (which surprisingly resembles the front door of the mysterious woman’s house). Does this mean the new season will clear up the mystery of Mrs. Flood? Maybe not.
During a discussion with the BBC deposit Doctor Who: Unleashedshowrunner Russell T. Davies announced that while we will learn more about her, solving the riddle of her identity will remain a mystery “long term”. Theories about the character are already well underway. Her knowledge of the TARDIS has led many fans to wonder whether Mrs. Flood would be a Time Lady too. Knowing Russell T. Davies’ desire to connect Doctor Who’s future with her sometimes forgotten past, could she be the Rani?

Could Mrs. Flood have something to do with the Doctor’s nemesis: the Master? Indeed, the conclusion of the 60 Years trilogy revealed that the latter had been imprisoned in a gold tooth. After the clash between the two Doctors and the Celestial Toymaker, female fingers stole the artifact, taking with them the remains of the Doctor’s sworn enemy… What portends an imminent clash?
