When the fire was brought under control, police discovered three dead people in the bedroom. The two female victims had head injuries, and were suspected to have died from previous head injuries.
On July 23, Tay Ninh Provincial Police examined the scene and investigated the cause of a house fire that occurred in Truong Phu Hamlet, Truong Dong Commune (Hoa Thanh Town) that killed 3 people. The victims included: Mr. NTD (born in 1978), Ms. PTTT (born in 1980), and Ms. NTL (born in 1969).
Earlier, at around 9:45 p.m. on July 22, people discovered a house in Truong Phu hamlet (Truong Dong commune) on fire. People shouted and used fire extinguishers on the spot to put out the fire, but were unsuccessful.

Fire police arrived at the scene, controlled the fire, and discovered Mr. D., Ms. T., and L. dead in the bedroom.
Investigating the scene, police discovered that the iron door to the house was locked from the inside. In addition to the victims who died, the property in the house was burned down.
On the bodies of the three victims were many pieces of burned plastic, with a strong smell of gasoline. Through autopsy, the police determined that Ms. T. and L. had head injuries, suspected of death from traumatic brain injury, Mr. D. died from burns.
