2nd ODI: Quinton de Kock’s century, Pakistan defeated by eight wickets

South Africa beat Pakistan in the second ODI on Thursday to level the series 1-1 thanks to Quinton de Kock’s century.

The third and final match of the series will be played in Faisalabad on November 8.

In the second match played in Faisalabad, Pakistan batted first and set a target of 270 runs, which the visiting team easily achieved at the loss of two wickets.

De Kock and De Zorzi played an important role in South Africa’s victory. Opener Quinton de Kock scored a brilliant century and remained at the crease till the end scoring 123 runs. De Zorzi, who supported him, also scored a half-century and was dismissed for 76 runs.

Pakistan got many opportunities to take wickets which they missed by dropping catches. Mohammad Wasim took the only wicket for Pakistan.

Earlier, Pakistan won the toss and decided to bat first, then Fakhar Zaman, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan returned to the pavilion only on a total score of 22.

After that, Saeem Ayub and Salman Agha scored 92 runs in the fourth wicket partnership to get the team out of trouble. Saeem Ayub was dismissed for 53 and Salman Agha scored 69 runs.

Apart from these two batsmen, Mohammad Nawaz batted brilliantly and scored 59 runs off 59 balls. However, among the other batsmen, Faheem Ashraf scored 28 runs and Shaheen Afridi scored only one run.

On behalf of South Africa, Nandre Berger managed to take four wickets, Bosch took two wickets and Peter three.

Thus, after losing the first ODI match, South Africa has made a good comeback in the series and made the last match the deciding match of the series.
