In Faridganj upazila of Chandpur, 23 electric meters were stolen from different businesses in one night. On Sunday (May 26), these three phase meters were stolen from Bagra Bazar in Upazila to Border Bazar in Raipur and from different business establishments.
On Monday (May 27) morning, the theft of these meters was reported when the businessmen came to their establishments.
Shafiqur Rahman, the victim sawmill trader, said, I closed the sawmill at night like every day and went home. I came in the morning and found that the electricity meter of my sawmill had been stolen. I want the administration to judge it.
President of the District Samil Malik Samiti. Nashir Uddin Haji said, on Sunday night, 23 meters were stolen from different mills of Faridganj upazila, including the meters of two businesses owned by me. Three phase meters cost 25 to 30 thousand rupees.
He also said that due to the theft, there has been a huge loss to the joint traders. Those involved in this theft, I want the administration to bring them under the law and provide exemplary punishment. I told the matter verbally to the OC of the police station. The written complaint is being prepared.
Faridganj Zonal Office under Chandpur Palli Vidyut Samity-2. The deputy general manager of this office, Engineer Mohammad Kamal Hossain, said that the incident of electric meter theft is unfortunate. In this upazila there has never been such a case of electric meter theft. Those who have caused the incident, the concerned administration should quickly bring them under the law.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Faridganj Police Station. Saidul Islam said, if written complaint is received, necessary measures will be taken through investigation.
