The warnings issued by the Inmet (National Institute of Meteorology) indicate that 21 states and the Federal District could have heavy rains this Tuesday (23).
Only Alagoas, Amapá, Paraíba, Rio Grande do Norte and Roraima have not received warnings from the federal body linked to the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock.
There are cases of states with yellow alert, for potential, and orange, for imminent danger, such as Sao Paulo and Minas Gerais. In other words, it may rain harder in a certain region.
According to the weather bulletin released this Monday afternoon (22nd) by Inmet, rainfall volumes that could exceed 90 mm are expected to be recorded in some areas of the North, North-East, Central-West and South-East regions.
“In the Central-West and South-East regions, intense rainfall is expected, with volumes exceeding 80 mm, which may be accompanied by lightning, gusts of wind and thunderstorms” we read in the document.
Cemaden (National Center for Monitoring and Warning of Natural Disasters) highlights that the possibility of events with potential damage in Greater São Paulo, Vale do Paraíba and the coast of São Paulo, as well as in the metropolitan region of Rio de Janeiro, is and in the Zona da Mata of Minas Gerais, due to the forecast of rain showers and significant accumulations. In these places there is a risk of flash flooding, flooding and flooding in areas with inadequate drainage.
“The rains will be caused by a lot of humidity arriving from the North to the South-East, in addition to the circulation of winds and marine infiltrations that keep the weather conditions unstable for several days,” says Climatempo Meteorologia.
In recent days, between Friday (19th) and Sunday (21st), four people died due to rain in the state of Sao Paulo. Nearly 500 were left homeless.
Unlike what happened last week, however, in which the heat had a strong influence on the storms, according to Climatempo the rain in the next few days will be combined with milder temperatures even inland. Maximum temperatures in the city of Sao Paulo are expected to range between 22ºC and 24°C on Thursday (25), the day of the city’s anniversary celebration.
In the other regions of the country, explains Inmet, forecasts indicate rainfall of around 50 millimetres.
In the Northeast, expected volumes exceed 100 mm and the alerts mainly concern Bahia and Piauí, according to the bulletin.
In the South, which has been suffering from floods and lack of electricity since the beginning of the year, rain showers are expected due to a convergence of humidity, which will favor instability throughout the week in the areas of eastern Paraná and Santa Catarina. Inland it should rain less than in recent days.
In the North, rain showers with amounts exceeding 50 mm are expected throughout the week practically throughout the region, but especially in Pará, Amapá, Rondônia and Tocantins.
