Madrid, January 1 (EFE).- With the developers already at work, although in many cases we are waiting for confirmation, on the horizon of 2024 there are already numerous releases on the horizon that promise to delight players for another year, such as ‘Mario vs. Donkey Kong’, ‘Tekken 8’, ‘Final Fantasy VII Rebirth’ or ‘Rise of the Ronin’.
2023 was a dream year for the video game industry, as it welcomed masterpieces that will remain for posterity such as ‘The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom’, ‘Baldur’s Gate 3’, ‘Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’ , ‘Super Mario Wonder’ or ‘Alan Wake 2’.
Reaching, therefore, the heights of excellence shown by some of the titles mentioned or finding such an abundance of works bordering on perfection in 2024 will not be an easy undertaking.
Of course, the video game industry has a new year in store with big releases like the ones we review:
“Empty Knight: Song of the Silk”
The second part of ‘Hollow Knight’ will arrive in 2024. Although the release date has yet to be set, after countless delays, fans’ anticipation and excitement only increases. Hornet will take the place of The Knight to continue the saga of one of the most influential indie metroidvanias of the last century.
“Mario vs. Donkey Kong”
The return of the classic, finally on Switch. Two of the most iconic characters in the history of video games, Nintendo flagships such as Super Mario Bros and Donkey Kong, will meet again in February in a revolutionary platform game, with unique levels and puzzles and masterful artistic design.
“Tekken 8”
Fighting games are all the rage and ‘Tekken’ couldn’t be left out. The well-known Iron Fist saga will exhibit its entire collection in January 2024 to once again assert itself as one of the most important franchises of the genre.
“Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown”
Another familiar face returns to the scene. The legendary Prince of Persia, an icon of 21st century video games, will be reborn in 2024 completely renovated. Ubisoft twists the formula to turn it into a linear side-scrolling game, framed in the metroidvania genre.
“Princess Peach: Show!”
In the same way that Link, Mario, Donkey Kong, Samus Aran – from whom news related to “Metroid Prime 4” is also expected – or Wario, Nintendo’s most recognizable characters, have recently received important releases, the Princess of the Kingdom of Mushrooms couldn’t be less. Peach will be the protagonist of an original adventure full of fantasy and imagination that will be released for Switch next March.
“Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League”
The development team responsible for the award-winning and renowned “Batman: Arkham” saga is behind the latest title from DC Comics. In this case it won’t be the Dark Knight who saves the city, but rather the members of the Suicide Squad will try to wreak havoc in a frenetic multiplayer shooter.
“Final Fantasy VII Rebirth”
World-famous developer Square Enix brings back the story of “Final Fantasy VII Remake”, one of the most acclaimed titles ever. After the adventures experienced in 2023 with ‘Final Fantasy XVI’, Cloud and his companions will now resume their journey starting from February 29th, exclusively on PlayStation 5.
“The Senua Saga: Hellblade II”
If ‘Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice’ was a milestone for its strong visual identity, its emotional language and the fascinating world it recreates, the second chapter, entitled ‘Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II’ promises to take Senua one step further after you.
“Marvel’s Wolverine”
Given the resounding success and incalculable impact that ‘Marvel’s Spider-Man’ has had on superhero video games, Insomniac Games, the developer responsible for the Spider-Man titles, will also be responsible for recreating the universe of Wolverine, another of the most legendary characters in comics. Announced at the PlayStation Showcase in 2021, its release date is still unknown.
“Dragon Dogma 2”
CAPCOM recovers the legendary saga ‘Dragon’s Dogma’ at a critical moment for fantasy games, following the unprecedented success of ‘Baldur’s Gate 3’. One of the undoubted candidates for the title of RPG of the year will arrive on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in March.
“Rise of the Ronin”
Team Ninja, responsible for cult works such as “Ninja Gaiden”, will put all its talent exclusively at the service of PlayStation 5. “Rise of the Ronin”, set in 19th century Japan, will once again pay homage to the challenging difficulty, Action overflowing and fun in all its forms.
