After rabies cases were detected in 2 stray dogs in Şanlıurfa’s Eyyübiye district, quarantine was initiated in 2 neighborhoods.
DOGS ATTACKED 2 PEOPLE
A stray dog attacked Mustafa Şahin, who was walking on the street in Batıkent District of the district, on June 4. Şahin, who was bitten on his arm and leg, was discharged after treatment at Balıklıgöl State Hospital.
Rabies was detected in the stray dog that attacked Ufuk K. (16) in the rural Payamlı District on May 30. Quarantine was initiated in both neighborhoods by the decision of the governor. A sign saying “Attention rabies risk area” was hung at the entrance of the neighborhood where quarantine was initiated.
VACCINATION WITH THE UNDERSTANDING OF MOBILIZATION FROM THE GOVERNORSHIP
In the statement made by Şanlıurfa Governorship, it was stated that a meeting was held regarding the collection, rehabilitation and treatment processes of homeless animals in the city. Governor Hasan Şıldak stated that the occurrence of rabies cases in the city center poses a great risk, and that he instructed the relevant public institutions and all municipalities to “work with a mobilization approach to vaccinate stray animals against rabies.”
