Two planes collided mid-air in Kenya’s capital Nairobi on Tuesday (March 5), killing two people. A student pilot training and his instructor died in the plane, police said. While they were practicing, their plane collided with a passenger plane.
Local authorities in Kenya said the collision occurred on Tuesday morning between a plane of the local airline Safarilink and a plane belonging to the 99 Flying Training School.
Nairobi policeman Adamson Bungei confirmed the two deaths in a text message to AFP. However, he did not give any details about the accident.
An earlier report said that after the collision, the passenger plane requested to turn back for landing.
Safarilink said in a statement that there were 44 passengers on the plane. It traveled to Diani. However, the plane met with a major accident after take off.
It is said that there was no harm to the passengers and crew members of the plane in the accident. The relevant agencies have been notified of the accident and Safarilink Aviation will participate in the investigation.

On the other hand, 99 Flying School also confirmed the incident. However, they did not give any details about it.
Meanwhile, the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority said they have already started an investigation to find out the cause of the accident.
