RAB-6 has arrested bus driver Khokon Mia (48) in connection with the bus-pickup collision in Faridpur in which 15 people were killed. The members of RAB’s Jhenaidah camp arrested him from station para of Kotchandpur upazila town of the district around 11 am on Sunday.
RAB confirmed this information at night. Later he was handed over to the members of Faridpur RAB-10.
RAB-6 Jhenaidah Camp Commander Major Naeem Ahmed confirmed the matter and said that on 16th of this month, a pick-up van coming from Alphadanga of Faridpur to Faridpur city collided head-on with a unique transport carrying passengers from Dhaka to Magura at a place called Dighanagar of Kotyali police station of Faridpur district. A total of 15 people died on the spot and under treatment.
In this incident, a case was registered under the Road Transport Act at Kotyali Police Station of Faridpur on the same day. RAB received information that Khokon Mia, the driver of Unique Paribahan involved in the case, is staying in Kotchandpur upazila town of Jhenaidah. Based on the information, RAB started the operation from Saturday night. As a part of this, Khokon Mia was arrested in front of his house near Stationpara of the city around 11 o’clock on Sunday. Further legal action in this regard is under process.
