With courage and determination, the 10X excellently won the gold medal, contributing with other contestants to bring the Vietnamese student team to 3rd place out of 81 countries and territories participating in the 2024 International Biology Olympiad (the whole team won 3 gold medals and 1 silver medal).
Tien Loc expressed that the companionship and support of family, teachers and friends is a great motivation for the male student to always try and conquer the set goals.

Dream of becoming a good doctor
Before reaching the prestigious gold medal, Tien Loc started out as a student majoring in Mathematics in high school. After realizing that this subject was not suitable for him, the 10X decided to change direction. The male student devoted all his love to Biology, a subject that he believed gathered the scientific achievements of other natural sciences.
“If Mathematics is like the source, the root, then Biology will be like the leaves and fruits, creating the indispensable diversity of natural science. Therefore, I did not hesitate to choose this subject to develop my potential and passion during my high school years.”Tien Loc said.
In the early days of his first steps into the world of Biology, Tien Loc always made it a habit to read books and documents every day. Starting with simple books like textbooks, the male student continued to explore specialized documents, then to research and foreign scientific articles to expand his knowledge. Along with reading books, the 10X spent a lot of time self-studying, doing extra exercises to memorize knowledge as well as increase reflexes.

Tien Loc’s passion for the subject is also inspired by his teachers, especially Dr. Do Thi Thanh Huyen, head of the Biology Department, High School for the Gifted in Natural Sciences.
Ms. Huyen commented that Tien Loc is an intelligent student, with great passion and ambition. Although he won a silver medal, ranked 35/293 contestants at IBO 2023, Tien Loc still cherishes and desires to conquer the gold medal at IBO 2024. The results achieved today make both teacher and student extremely happy.
Sharing his future plans, Tien Loc expressed his desire to become a doctor – a job that will help him continue to expand his field and knowledge of Biology, while contributing to the country. With his recent achievements, the 10X was admitted directly to Hanoi Medical University, which means he has taken the first step towards his dream.
“Hanoi Medical University is the oldest medical school in Vietnam with many generations of talented doctors. I believe that here, under the guidance of teachers and seniors, I will become a good doctor, contributing to society and the country.”Tien Loc said.
