Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) conducted induction program for residents admitted to MD and MS program phase in March-2024 session. 1 thousand 423 doctors participated in the induction program and took oath to become specialist doctors.
Meanwhile, Vice-Chancellor Professor Sharfuddin Ahmed said that after the establishment of BSMMU, 12,000 doctors have passed as specialists. They are serving the nation. The merit of those admitted to this university is properly evaluated. That is why they have to do regular class exams and work in the ward to sharpen themselves. Here the class tests follow the proper rules.

Meanwhile, Vice-Chancellor Sharfuddin Ahmed also said that the number of specialist doctors is needed. According to the World Health Organization, there should be one specialist doctor for every one lakh. But as we know, there are not that many expert doctors in anesthesia, ENT. Same situation in basic subjects. We can admit 36 people in our MPhil Anatomy admission test yesterday. But only 26 applied for admission. 14 people got chance. During the last MD anatomy course admission test, I saw 71 seats, 49 people applied but 29 people got chance. Still we are not able to attract doctors to basic subjects. Basic subjects like Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Forensic Medicine and Anesthesia should be given intensively. They have to increase their age. Otherwise we will not get anyone experienced. We have increased many seats in basic subjects in last three years.
