12 instructions including keeping adequate manpower in hospitals during Eid holidays – 2024-04-01 02:26:33

The Hospitals and Clinics Branch of the Directorate of Health has issued 12-point instructions to the public and private hospitals to ensure the health protection of the common people during the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr holiday.

According to the notification, this year there is a possibility of a long holiday due to Shab Qadr, Eid-ul-Fitr, Bengali New Year (Pahela Baisakh) and weekends. The following instructions have been given for the management of medical services in the hospital during this holiday.

12 point instructions
1. In order to ensure adequate manpower and medical care at the workplace during the holiday period, the manpower can be given leave in phases by coordinating before and after Eid.

2. The head of the institution shall grant leave in a manner favorable to uninterrupted emergency medical operations and public interest.

3. The Civil Surgeon can coordinate the necessary manpower within his district only during the Eid holidays by informing the Divisional Director.

4. A full-time presence of a doctor should be ensured in the emergency department.

5. Emergency department and labor room, emergency OT should be kept open round the clock.

6. Day-to-day supervision will be carried out by Heads of Units in internal departments. Medical college hospitals, specialized hospitals, district headquarters hospitals and upazila health complexes should have emergency labs and X-ray services open round the clock.

7. Adequate vacation medicines, IV fluid chemical re-agents, surgical supplies should be stocked and immediately supplied before the vacation starts. In this case, the storekeeper or staff in charge during vacation must stay in their own district and upazila.

8. Ambulance service should be kept open round the clock.

9. Prior notice should be given to local administration and law enforcement agencies for hospital security during holidays.

10. The head of the organization and the head of various departments will regularly communicate with the officers and employees providing holiday services and exchange skills on the day of Eid.

11. If the head of the organization takes leave, he must assign responsibility to someone as per the rules and the employee who takes responsibility will perform all duties properly. The name and mobile number of the responsible person should be intimated to the higher authorities.

12. The head of the institution will supervise the serving of quality food to the patients on the day of Eid and exchange greetings with the patients.

It is also informed that the Director General of the Department of Health has the approval of the notification stating the matter as urgent.
