Naval police seized 112 maunds of jatka in various places including Meghna river in Chandpur. A total of 40 people including seven autorickshaws were arrested.
On Wednesday (February 14) morning, the jatkas were distributed in front of Chandpur Naval Police Station and to various orphanages including the poor and helpless in Mohanpur area.
According to Naval Police, on Wednesday morning on the way from Muladi in Barisal to Dhaka, raids were conducted on the basis of secret information during Jatka transport in seven auto-rickshaws at Mordan Sun Launch and Mohanpur area of Matlab.
Chandpur Naval Zone Additional DIG Mohammad Kamruzzaman told Jago News that the second combing operation of the Jatka operation has been completed. 50 maunds of Jatka were seized at Chandpur Launch Ghat and 62 maunds of Jatka in Mohanpur during raids in Chandpur region in the last 24 hours. Besides, seven auto-rickshaws used for transportation were seized and seven drivers were detained at separate places in Mohanpur. Legal action will be taken against them under Fisheries Act.
Superintendent of Police of Chandpur Naval Region Belayet Hossain Shikdar, District Fisheries Officer Golam Mehedi Hasan, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chandpur Naval Police Station Kamruzzaman, Assistant Fisheries Officer Mizanur Rahman and the policemen of Naval Police Station were present.
