With the mask of the queen

Jeannette Charles (94) played the queen most often. In more than a dozen films, at various social events, in TV shows, competitions and commercials… “I’m really going to miss it,” she said, when she had to quit due to arthritis in 2014. As a double of Elizabeth II. she lived an incredible 50 years!

Mother or sister?

Actress Helena Bonham Carter, known for example from the role of the evil Belatrix in the Harry Potter films, became part of the Queen’s film family twice. In the third series of the series Koruna, she played Princess Margaret, in the film The King’s Speech, then the wife of George VI, the future Queen Mother.

As a prominent figure among world leaders, Queen Elizabeth II. (†96) also caught the attention of film and television producers. Where did they cast her too?

Strosmayer also knew

Even in Czech and Czechoslovakian works, the figure or at least the name of Queen Elizabeth II. discovered. She did not avoid the legendary Hospital on the outskirts of the city, where she was reminded by dr. Štrosmajer (Miloš Kopecký, †73) when he was getting to know his colleague Čeňková (Eliška Balzerová, 73): “…you are Elizabeth! Apart from the Queen of England, I haven’t personally met any Betynka yet.” – “Did you know the Queen?” – “Well, half of it, let’s say. I know her, she doesn’t know me.’

…the real ruler watched the film The Queen and the series The Crown and praised it quite a bit, although she always added that it was fiction and the reality was different. • …out of respect for the late queen, the creators of the series Koruna have now temporarily suspended the filming of the final series.
