It could be a dispute over oil, its relationship with Iran, support from nefarious factions, or all of the above. To be sure, relations between the US and Iran are tense. The fact is, since the Iran hostage crisis of 1979-1981, things have never been the same between the two countries.
2. Syria
The conflict between Syria and the US did not start as a Syria-US conflict, but as a Syrian civil war. Needless to say, once the US provided two aid, all bets for good relations were lost.
3. Irak
There has been tension, war, and distrust between the US and Iran for decades. The Gulf War of the 1990s, the invasion of Kuwait, and other key events have made Iran one of the US’s main adversaries.
4. Libya
Relations between Libya and the US have made some progress, but there is still a long way to go. The main reason why Libya is considered one of the US’s potential enemy countries is its ties to terrorism, which led to targeted bombings by the US in the mid-1980s.
5. Somalia
While Somalia as a whole may not be considered one of the US’s biggest enemy countries, terrorist factions within its borders keep Somalia in check. This also led to US military operations in Somalia as part of counter-terrorism efforts.
6. Pakistan

US relations with Pakistan have experienced difficult times, with a history of ups and downs. Due to ongoing ties, interactions, and affiliations, there remains a degree of distrust in the motives and goals of the Pakistani nation.

Historically, Russia has always been one of the US’s main enemy countries. The conflict between the two powers in World War I and II has become a matter of history and knowledge. Currently, the uncertain relationship between the two powers is heating up again with Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Russia is second on the list of biggest enemies. The conflict in Ukraine has been a major focus of US headlines over the past year. This may explain the frequency with which Russia is mentioned as the US’s biggest enemy. As many as 32% of respondents said Russia this year was the same as last year.
After months of heightened tensions between Russia and the US over Ukraine, bilateral relations hit another low when a Kremlin spokesman called the US an “enemy”.
Russian President Vladimir Putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov reportedly said, “We are now an enemy country to them, just as they are to us.”
The Kremlin previously called the US and Western countries that support Ukraine “unfriendly countries” or “adversaries” due to high tensions over Ukraine’s use of American-supplied weapons on Russian territory.
However, according to Agentstvo, an independent Russian investigative site, this is the first time they have publicly called the US an “enemy” country.
