A young man was arrested along with 24 gold biscuits from the India-Bangladesh border by the jawans of the 102 battalion of the Indian Border Guard Force (BSF). The total weight of the seized gold biscuits is about 2 bhars, with an estimated market value of Rs 1 crore 77 lakh 33 thousand, which is equivalent to Tk 2 crore 35 lakh in Bangladeshi currency.
According to the information provided by BSF, on Thursday (February 29) around 6:30 am, the jawans of border post Govarda got information about gold smuggling from secret sources. As soon as the matter was known, BSF started a special operation in the designated area. At that time the BSF jawans on patrol kept an eye on the suspicious movement of a young man coming from Bangladesh towards India.

On seeing the BSF personnel, the suspected youth ran towards Bangladesh and tried to escape. But the BSF jawans chased him, caught him and started a search. At that time, 24 gold biscuits were found from the young man. Later, the BSF seized the gold biscuits by showing him under arrest.
The arrested person is Ripon Hasan. He is a resident of Satkhira district of Bangladesh. During interrogation, Ripon said that he collected the golden biscuits from a Bangladeshi citizen named Hasan Gazi around 7:40 pm on Wednesday (February 28). He was supposed to deliver them to an unknown Indian national in exchange for Rs.500.
