Things are moving fast for Antwerp player Arthur Vermeeren. After a top season in Antwerp, a move to top international club Atlético Madrid will most likely follow. The 18-year-old golden boy from Antwerp landed in the Spanish capital on Thursday morning. But he doesn’t take that journey alone. His girlfriend Elise Vlaeminck is at his side. And it’s not the first time the couple has been spotted together.
In mid-October, Vermeeren posted photos with his girlfriend Elise on Instagram for the first time. In this way everyone knew immediately that he came from the street, and this was also the first time. “It’s my first relationship, yes. We met at a birthday dinner,” he told Gazet van Antwerpen at the time.

Their relationship could be relevant when it comes to the upcoming move. They don’t live together yet, but what would happen if Vermeeren moved abroad? Will he come or not? And also: does she have a say in his future? “Not like that, no. This is mostly something for my parents, my lawyers and myself. My parents have been with me all my life and have helped me get to where I am today,” says Vermeeren. “And my lawyers know a lot about what goes on behind the scenes in football. These two parties can help me the best in my choice.”

Elise Vlaeminck, even though she is with a well-known footballer, remains rather aloof. Her Instagram remains private and she is not very active on other social media. But it’s no secret that the two have been a couple for quite some time. Vlaeminck has already given an insight into her life and her relationship with Vermeeren through some of her videos on her TikTok. It turns out, among other things, that the two had already gone to Paris together and enjoyed a holiday on the Greek island of Rhodes.
The young footballer also took his girlfriend to Barcelona for the Champions League match in Antwerp, and earlier this month the couple enjoyed a trip to London. Vlaeminck is always at the footballer’s side on special occasions. Last week, the couple attended the Golden Shoe ceremony together, where Vermeeren received the trophy for best prospect.
