Multiple Vehicle Accident Leaves One Dead and Several Injured in Miami-Dade
FLORIDA – In a tragic incident on the I-95 highway in Miami-Dade, a collision involving eight vehicles resulted in fatalities and injuries.
Fatalities and Injuries
Upon arrival at the scene, emergency responders discovered an adult male who was pronounced dead. The remaining individuals were promptly transported to nearby hospitals for medical attention.
One adult male arrived at Jackson Memorial Hospital in critical condition, while four others, also adults, are currently in stable condition.
Details of the Incident
The City of Miami Fire and Rescue Department received reports of a multi-vehicle crash involving eight cars and multiple victims in the southbound lanes of I-95, near the exit to highway 112, just before 2:30 a.m.
The exact cause of the accident and the identity of the fatality have yet to be determined.
Upon reaching the scene, emergency teams encountered ten patients requiring medical assistance, leading them to request additional resources.
Emergency Response and Condition of the Victims
Paramedics swiftly initiated triage procedures and provided medical care while arranging transportation for the ten patients. Unfortunately, one of the victims succumbed to their injuries at the scene, while an adult male was rushed to Ryder Trauma Center in serious condition.
Four other adults were transported to Jackson Hospital in stable condition, and the remaining four individuals declined treatment and transportation.
Investigation and Road Closure
The Florida Highway Patrol is currently investigating the cause of this devastating multiple vehicle accident. As a result, the southbound lanes remain closed on the morning of Thursday, June 15.
Sequence of Events Leading to the Accident
Based on information provided by the Florida Highway Patrol, the initial collision occurred when a black Tesla lost control and collided with a concrete barrier, ultimately coming to a rest in the middle of the road. Tragically, the driver of the Tesla was ejected from the vehicle due to the impact.
In an attempt to avoid the individual in the road, an oncoming white Nissan rapidly decelerated. However, another vehicle crashed into the Nissan, pushing it into the victim and setting off a chain reaction of collisions involving a total of eight cars and ten individuals.
