It was supposed to be just another normal ride in the spare time. Instead, it turned into a dramatic fight for life for Ján Kočiš. A successful Slovak athlete went to the trail park in the village of Žehra na Spiš at the end of last week, when he suffered a heavy fall! “I was just grunting and kicking my feet. I was so out of it,” said Kocis according to Slovak server Šport24.
However, the world champion in the bike trial was lucky in his misfortune. The rider, who subsequently fell unconscious, was found by his friends, who were shocked by the whole situation. According to the information of the portal tvnoviny.sk Kočiš was critically injured. This was followed by a transfer to the hospital by helicopter, where he remains hospitalized to this day.
“The only luck is that they found me. If I was there alone, I would definitely not live anymore. A big thank you to my friends,” stated Kočiš, while appreciating the fact that he was wearing a helmet, which most likely saved his life. In his case, a serious accident required immediate surgery. The Kočiš family was immediately informed about the terrible experience.
Although Ján survived the horrific fall, it also raised questions about the continuation of his career. “I hope it’s not a warning finger. I’m a little concerned that I may have to slow down or reduce the jumps. After all, I’m not forever young and immortal,” stated Kočiš after a heavy fall.
