[バグダッド/ワシントン5日 ロイター] – The Iraqi Prime Minister’s Office announced on the 5th that it will begin procedures to withdraw US-led coalition forces stationed in Iraq.

In a statement, the prime minister’s office said: “A date will be set for the launch of a committee to carry out procedures to permanently end the presence of coalition forces in Iraq.” The committee will also include representatives of military coalitions, government officials said.

In a statement, Prime Minister Sudani said: “As there is no longer any legitimacy for the presence of coalition forces, we underline our firm position to end their presence.”

The US Army has 2,500 troops stationed in Iraq. The US Department of Defense declined to comment on the announcement from the Iraqi prime minister’s office.

On the 4th, the US army carried out a retaliatory attack on Baghdad for the attack against American forces in Iraq, killing the leader of an Iraqi militia group. According to Iraqi police sources, at least two rockets were fired from a small unmanned aerial vehicle (drone) at a facility used by the Iraqi al-Nujaba militia, killing four people, including the commander and one of his aides.
