Members’ work books Indonesian Air Force (AU) born in Jepara does not only contain military stories. He also tells the story of his self-taught struggle until he was able to enter the Physics Engineering Department of ITB. He also tells the story of how to live daily as a soldier whose salary is inadequate. Also stories about his family.

He hopes that the experiences outlined in this book will not only be useful for his children and grandchildren, but also for the younger generation of the Air Force and Bandung Institute of Technology (p. 195). Through this book, Kun Ibawati’s husband hopes that their insights will be more open to achieving high ideals, working hard and never giving up in learning new things.

Sri Diharto’s childhood up to the rank of Captain was indeed full of struggles. Likewise, the assignments he experienced required him to work hard and never give up in learning new things. Actually, Sri Diharto had intended to pour his life experiences into a book. Through sharing these experiences, Sri Diharto hopes that the younger generation can emulate his experiences.

The two-star Air Force general said that he had written on his laptop. Unfortunately, the writing was lost along with his stolen laptop. Fortunately, he met Imelda Bachtiar who diligently wrote down what Sri Diharto said into this book.

Sri Diharto was a child who did not like studying subjects at school. That is why he had many bad marks on his report card when he was still in Elementary School (now Elementary School). Although lazy to study, Sri Diharto was a child who liked to try new things. The change happened when he was in the 2nd grade of junior high school. He started to study diligently. The results of his hard work in studying subjects made him graduate from SMA 1 Pati and was able to enter the Physics Engineering Department of the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB).

At ITB, R Soetardjo’s youngest son became friends with Guntur Sukarno. He also became acquainted with Megawati Sukarnoputri . Even the only son of Rr Sri Sukamti became Megawati’s supervisor in the Physics course practicum. At that time Sri Diharto was an assistant for the Physics course at Padjadjaran University, where Megawati was one of the students at the university. Sri Diharto was close to Megawati. “At that time I was an idol assistant, so my attention to Mega was also welcomed by her. The response was positive,” he wrote (p. 22).

Sri Diharto was the only Air Force soldier who achieved the rank of two-star general who came from a non-military education path. In 1964, when Sri Diharto had not yet graduated from ITB, he was invited to join the AURI. There were two AURI members who came to ITB to look for experts who were willing to devote their knowledge for the advancement of the Air Force (p. 49). Sri Diharto immediately received the rank of Second Lieutenant and was assigned to develop space communications.
