Holi Special- Try the delicious Mint and Chana Dal Pulao Hassle-free, wholesome and nutritious food that can be prepared and cooked within 20 minutes.
Material
1 cup rice (washed)
2 tablespoons Chanda Dal (washed)
Handful of mint leaves (washed)
Handful of coriander leaves (washed)
8-10 peeled garlic cloves
1 small onion – finely chopped
2 green chillies
1 teaspoon cumin
1/2 tsp garam masala
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
salt to taste
2-3 tbsp oil
Method
* Start by washing the rice and dal separately and keep it aside while you do the rest
* In a small mixer jar, add mint and coriander, garlic, green chillies and a little water and make a coarse paste.
* Take a cooker, add about 2-3 tablespoons of oil in it and heat it. Add cumin seeds, then add onion
* After the onion turns pink-golden, add mint paste to it and cook for about a minute.
* Add salt, turmeric powder, chana dal and rice. mix well
* Add garam masala and a little less than 2 cups of water
* Pressure cook till two whistles, cook on low flame for about 2 minutes and then turn off the gas.
* Wait for the cooker to cool down automatically
* Serve pulao with curd, pickle or papad (all three for a nirvana like experience).
