On the night of June 27, the group stage of the 2024 European Football Championship came to an end. All teams that reached the 1/8 finals have become known, Liter.kz reports with reference to Vesti.kz.
A total of 24 national teams participated in the tournament, divided into six groups. The top two teams from each group, as well as the four third-place teams, advanced to the playoffs.
The fight for reaching the playoffs among the teams that took third place was especially exciting. Slovenia, the Netherlands, Slovakia and Georgia made it to the 1/8 finals, while Hungary and Croatia were left out. The Hungarians shared the points with Slovenia (three), but lost on goal difference (-3 to 0).
Scotland, Albania, Serbia, Poland, Ukraine and the Czech Republic finished bottom of their groups.
The schedule for the 1/8 finals is as follows:
- Switzerland vs Italy;
- Germany vs Denmark;
- England vs Slovakia;
- Spain vs Georgia;
- France v Belgium;
- Portugal v Slovenia;
- Romania v. the Netherlands;
- Austria vs Turkey.
The matches will start on June 29. The first match will be Switzerland vs. Italy, starting at 23:00 Astana time. The end of the 1/8 finals is scheduled for July 3 with the match Austria vs. Turkey, which will start at 2:00.
