Entertainment: After the release of historical drama Maharaj on Friday, Aamir Khan’s son Junaid Khan, who made his debut with the film, shared his feelings about the positive response the film has received. Speaking to ANI, Junaid said, “I am very grateful for the positive response Maharaj has received. So yes, it is quite satisfying; I think all’s well that ends well.” Talking about his initial attraction towards the script,

The Maharaj actor shared, “When Sid and Adi sir called me for this story, I found it very attractive. I really liked Sid sir’s character. The Yash Raj banner is important, so taking up this project was an obvious choice.” When asked about taking advice from his father Aamir Khan, Junaid said, “Usually he lets us do what we want to do, unless we say something very specific; then he gives advice. But he liked the film. He saw the film a few months ago and he liked it a lot.” Earlier on Friday, the Gujarat High Court lifted its temporary stay on the film’s release.

Following the decision, YRF posted a statement expressing gratitude on their official Instagram handle. “We are grateful to the judiciary for allowing the release of Maharaj, a film that celebrates one of our country’s most important social reformers, Karsandas Mulji,” the statement said. “Yash Raj Films has a 50-year-old legacy of championing India, its stories, its people, culture and heritage. We have never made a film that has tarnished the reputation of our country or our countrymen.” Directed by Siddharth P Malhotra and produced by YRF Entertainment, Maharaj is based on the 1862 Maharaj defamation case, starring Junaid Khan alongside Jaideep Ahlawat and Shalini Pandey, with Sharvari in a special role. The historical drama is based on one of the biggest legal battles in Indian history: the 1862 Maharaj defamation case. Based on true events that took place in 1862 in pre-independence India, Maharaj follows the journey of Karsandas Mulji, one of India’s greatest social reformers. This David vs. Goliath tale showcases one man’s courage to stand up against the injustice of his time. Critics and fans alike have praised the film’s powerful performances. Maharaj is currently streaming on Netflix India.
