Look: What was it like sharing with Miguel Varoni?

AMT: It’s amazing that there are even young people that you meet on the street and, when we were recording, I remember one time downtown, young people that I said: ‘it’s incredible, these kids have watched the soap opera again’, and meeting Miguel, well, I was a little nervous at first and then I fit in perfectly, Miguel is a monster, you don’t know what Miguel is until you work with him, he’s a man who is a director, a producer, he’s done everything and everything he’s done, he’s done well, and on top of that, as a human being, he’s an absolutely incredible man. I imagined that he’d be a little unbearable, not at all, as they say in Mexico, I imagined that he would be arrogant, dude, but no, not at all.

Look: What did you learn from Miguel Varoni?

AMT: There are many things, but they are small details in terms of acting, which also helped me a lot in a scene that I don’t remember what it was. He gave me some advice that I said: ‘Oh, yes, he’s absolutely right’, which I hadn’t realized and he gave it to me, and thank goodness he told me before, even before I was rehearsing. You learn a lot as a person and as an actor, you learn something every day and I learned a lot from Miguel.

Look: What did you miss most about acting?

AMT: Everything, having to be called differently, which is spectacular, I have the license to do things I couldn’t do. I did a production with Caracol in 2008, which I remember I built a house out of stone and I broke all the windows, I turned the house into nothing, so you don’t know what a delight it is to have the license to kill (laughs), that’s spectacular, being called differently, in the street, before they called me Manuela, now they’re going to start calling me Fernanda. These are cool things that happen in life and very few people have the privilege of experiencing them, and I’m a very privileged woman to be here.
